County Fair next week
SANDERSON – The 33rd Annual Terrell County Fair is next week, Jan. 21 at Fair Hall.
The events will actually
start Friday, Jan. 20, with the setup of booths and vendors at Fair Hall from 9 to 11 am. All arts and crafts projects will be judged
from 1 to 4 p.m.
The main livestock show will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. Other events during the day are an arts
and crafts show, pet show, a meal, an auction and a dance. The meal is a barbecue plate that will be sold for $10.
The Noel Olivas
Band, billed as West Texas’ Finest Country Music Band,” will play for dancers from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday.
The 32nd Annual Terrell
County Fair last year brought in a record $20,365 and drew a much larger crowd than anticipated.
In spite of indications of a much
smaller fair last year, 123 people were served at the luncheon, 179 arts and crafts and 63 livestock entries were entered and the
only downside seemed to be that the belt buckles for the grand champion winners had not arrived in time to be presented. A borrowed
buckle was used for pictures.
Fair Board officers this year are President Clay Houston, Vice President Wayne Truesdell, Secretary-Treasurer
Monica Mills and Livestock Chairman Mark Dominguez. Judy Houston and Tammy Truesdell are arts co- chairs.
